PRESS RELEASE

Hidalgo Joins Forces with Sepura for BAPCO18th April 2005

Cambridgeshire based electronic product design company Hidalgo will be joining forces with world leading TETRA terminal supplier Sepura to demonstrate its EquivitalTM Life Monitor at the forthcoming exhibition of the British Association of Public service Communication Officers (BAPCO).

The EquivitalTM Life Monitor is an advanced remote physiological welfare monitoring system designed to protect the lives of personnel operating in hazardous or harsh environments, such as military, emergency services and lone workers, who are exposed to a heightened risk of injury or physical trauma.

"Our EquivitalTM solution is all about looking after people who may be in harm's way. The importance of the golden hour in determining the outcome of a trauma injury is well known" said Justin Pisani, Operations Director of Hidalgo. "The key part of our technology is the intelligence used by the body worn sensor to dramatically reduce the information sent back from a wearer to just a simple indication of welfare, making the monitoring of a number of people, spread over a geographical area possible. The EquivitalTM system enables rapid detection, assessment, location and first-line medical treatment of personnel sustaining injuries in the line of duty. Ultimately, this can result in the saving of lives."

Justin went on to say "Our relationship as an applications partner with Sepura has enabled us to develop a version of our EquivitalTM Life Monitor that interfaces with the Sepura SRP3000 TETRA radio. This means that we can deliver, in real time, nation or force wide welfare information to a remote monitoring station using the TETRA radio network. The new features of Sepura TETRA solutions, such as location information and packet data, make this type of operational monitoring for emergency services a viable solution for the first time. We are very pleased that Sepura has invited us to demonstrate this technology alongside its products at the forthcoming BAPCO exhibition"

Peter Hudson, Product Manager for Sepura commented "It is an exciting opportunity to combine two state of the art technologies in order to provide a special solution to the emergency services. This solution will enable them to monitor personnel involved in hazardous duties whilst still being able to administer aid to the general public involved in disaster scenarios."

Now in its seventh year, the annual BAPCO event represents the focal point in the calendar for all organisations, companies and individuals involved with public safety communications and information technology systems. Attracting over 1,600 key personnel from public safety agencies, central and local government, utilities and the communications and IT manufacturing and service sectors, BAPCO continues to grow in importance as a forum for discussion of the key issues affecting the industry, both current and future.
